Caramelized Apple Cake

Caramelized Apple Cake


  • 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 2 large golden delicious apples, peeled, cored and coarsely chopped
  • 1-1/2 Tbsp. apple brandy
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1-1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Dannon® Plain Yogurt
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. powdered sugar


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9" round cake pan.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium skillet over medium high heat. Sauté the apples until golden brown for about 5 minutes. Stir in the brandy, brown sugar, and cinnamon cooking for 1 more minute. Set aside.
  3. Whisk together sugar, Dannon® Plain Yogurt, oil and eggs in a large bowl.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Add this to the yogurt mixture, and whisk until smooth. Stir in the apple pieces and pour into the prepared pan. Bake for 45 minutes. Allow to cool on a wire rack before turning out onto a cake plate. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
